Good News for Travelers arriving at Entebbe Airport
In the past few days, Entebbe airport has been full of chaos and congestion brought by the mandatory Covid-19 testing for all incoming travelers.
This exercise started on 26/10/2021 and is conducted by the government with the help of doctors from the Uganda people defense force.
With the need to limit the importation of new covid-19 variants from other nations, the government of Uganda decided to test every incoming traveler at the newly established centers. It seems not to work and inconvenience to the country’s air travel and tourism industry.
Several complaints about overcrowding at the waiting areas due to delayed results left the officials from the ministry of health and UCAA unsettled.
Screenshots of discouraging tweets by international travelers spread over the internet. Meeting were held by different organs to suggest a solution for this problem before it is worse. There is a solution.
On Tuesday while addressing the parliament about the issue, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, the health minister announced that starting 05/11/2021 travelers will be allowed to proceed with their journeys after the test and self-isolate from their homes or hotels.
Those who react positively will be traced and transferred to the main isolation centers. NITA is developing a tracing system that will help health workers to locate all those people with the virus.
