5 Bad Things that Exist at Entebbe International Airport
Entebbe Airport is the main entering point for travelers who get to Uganda by Aero plane. It is located in Entebbe along the shores of Lake Victoria. This aviation area is a major serving point for flights in East Africa. It welcomes a lot of flights from various corners of the World including Europe, Asia and the United States of America. It exists with its good features but also there are those bad things that exist at this facility and you need to know about them before you arrive there.
Long Queue at Immigration
Immigration at Entebbe Airport is always overwhelmed whenever there are more than one flight landing at the same time. There is always many people lining up to be cleared and the process sometimes is slow. You need to present your valid passport, Visa and the yellow fever vaccination card. At times you can find yourself standing in the line for almost an hour. After clearing, you will as well spend some other time at the baggage conveyor belt waiting for your luggage to appear. The congestion at the customs is common during the Airport’s busiest hours. So, you just need to be patient.
Low dollar exchange rate
This is intentional by the forex exchange outlets inside the terminals. They buy the dollar at a lower rate than the forex agents in Entebbe town. If you don’t want to lose your money in the exchange rates, it is better you exchange after you move out of the Aero port. You can go at the Imperial mall or the renowned Victoria mall for favoring rates. When you move further to Kampala, you get even more fantastic rates though if you hate traffic jam, don’t bother driving to the Kampala city center.
Disorganized arrivals waiting area
When you move out of the terminals, you will find many people standing at the Arrivals waiting area. The area is always disorganized with every person standing anyhow. You can even fail to notice the placard that displays your name. You have to take time and look around because some placards are always obstructed by other people standing.
Expensive Sim cards
Those people that vends Sim cards inside the Airport tend to sell the cards and data bundles at a slightly higher price. Be sure to inquire with a local person or friend if you have one. There is also always a long line. To ignore this confusion, just go to Victoria mall and buy an Airtel line or the one of MTN.
There is a package that includes weekly or monthly data bundles and talking credit. You can buy one depending on the period you will be using the Sim card. A Ugandan Sim card costs not more than 5000 Uganda shillings. The Data bundles and talking credit costs between 10,000 – 50,000 UGX. The monthly package is a bit expensive than the weekly package.
Small parking area
The ordinary parking area is always full whenever there are many people entering the Airport with cars. This is common during day time from 12:00 noon to 3:00 PM in the evening. It is always hard to get space for parking. So, if you hope to access the Airport during this period of time, it is better you go there earlier and get where to park your vehicle.
