Entebbe Airport Registers High Passenger Traffic in October
Entebbe Airport records the highest number of international travelers in October 2021 since its opening in 2020. The facility welcomed 100,455 passengers including 45799 arrivals and 54656 departures.
The average number was 3240 visitors per day. The statistics are revealed by Mr. Vianney Luggya, the public affairs manager Uganda Civil Aviation Authority.
This is the biggest number of passengers recorded at the EBB in a month since the reopening of commercial passenger flights.
The surge in traffic in October is brought about by multiple factors, including increased vaccination across the globe, the introduction of more flights in and out of Entebbe by new operators like Air link to South Africa, Air Arabia to Sharjah, and Uganda Airlines flights to Dubai.
The removal of Uganda from the UK red list in early October and the easing of travel restrictions on Ugandans to Dubai is another reason to count.
The average of 3,240 passengers per day is still far below the average of about 5,000 travelers per day that appeared in 2019 before the outbreak of coronavirus.
