Entebbe Airport Reaches Two Million Passenger Traffic
After the setbacks by the outbreak of the renowned Covid-19, Entebbe Airport is here to impress again Uganda Aviation industry. During the Covid time this Airport was closed and remained non-operating for some good weeks. After opening up to international flights, EBB has resumed to attract more passengers who come in and out of the country.
There has been a visible improvement in the passenger traffic and it has reached a two million passenger traffic in the month of November. About 2,020,787 international passengers were recorded between the month of January and November. It indicates a 17.8 per cent increase where compared to the performance in 2023.
In the month of November, the customs at Entebbe Airport recorded a total number of 182,932 international passengers. Over 91,867 travelers arrived at EBB and 91,065 departed to other parts of the World.
Officials at the Uganda civil Aviation authority revealed that the increase in number of passengers is due to some main factors like tourism, hosting of international events like Non Aligned Movement (NAM) and G77+ China Summit, business meetings, music concerts, festivals like Nyege Nyege, continental footballs matches and more.
The other key point is the introduction of new air operators like Air Arabia, Air Tanzania & AirLink in the Uganda airspace and opening of new routes for Uganda Airlines to Abuja, Mumbai, Lagos, Lusaka, Harare to name but a few.
The increase in number of travelers sounds good to service providers at the Airport. The list includes forex exchange outlets, telecommunication agencies like Airtel & MTN, food providers, taxicab drivers, money transfer agents and cargo handlers. There is always high demand for their services.
