Kenya Airways & Boeing Sign a Landing Services Deal
Kenya Airways and Boeing have signed a memorandum of understanding for landing gear exchange services. This announcement was made at the 2022 MRO Middle East exhibition, a leading aviation industry event for maintenance, repair and overhaul.
The agreement indicates that Boeing will provide nine landing gear ship sets wherever and whenever needed to support Kenya Airways’ 787 fleet. This is to ensure more efficient and cost-effective maintenance operations.
Speaking to the media, Evans Kihara, the technical director at Kenya Airways said “The customer is key in all our operations and this program will help us continue to offer world-class customer service as it will safeguard our operations and minimize disruptions to our guests,”
He added that it allows room for planning cash outflow in advance and at the same time enable them to work with Boeing to ensure that the airline’s schedule integrity is achieved.
Boeing’s landing gear exchange program simplifies the contracting, scheduling and management of the landing gear overhaul process.
With this program, air carriers can exchange landing gears that need to be repaired or overhauled with a replacement set of certified landing gear from Boeing.
Kenya Airways will now have the flexible exchange solution they need to repair and replace landing gear at favoring costs.
The vice president of Commercial Services Sales and Marketing for Boeing, Anbessie Yitbarek revealed that they look forward to implementing these programs with KQ and continue a long term relationship for many years.
